Golden censer and reliquary from Neungsan-ri, Buyeo

내용
We display 'The ancient gilt-bronze incense of burner of Baekje', the 287th national heritage from Neungsan-ri in Buyeo in 1993 and pagoda preserving relics of the Buddha, the 288th national heritage to have understanding of the flow of history and arts of Baekje. Granitic pagoda preserving relics of the Buddha which is displayed with 'The ancient gilt-bronze incense of burner of Baekje' was excavated from Simchoseok, Moktapji, Neungsanrisaji and are considered that younger sister of Changwang, a son of King Seong, made it to pray for the response of her father who died tragically. The exhibition opens from the 30th April to the 26th May 1996.

Exhibition of Korean Modern Paintings

This special exhibition aims to show the progress of development of Korean paintings from modern paintings to current paintings. We chose about 90 pieces of objects from of representative painters in the late of Joseon Age such as Heo Ryeon, Heo Hyeong, Heo Baekryeon, Jang Seung-up, Lee Haung, An Jungsik, Jeon Ki, Jeong Cheol and Min Yeong-ik. The exhibition is from the 19th Septermber to the 5th November.

The exhibition consists of 10 subjects including Appearance of tools, Development of polishing skills, Production of earthenware, Development of farming, Appearance of bronze tools. The exhibition is from the 25th October 1994 to the 26th November.

Exhibition of Museung Mountain

This exhibition is to introduce cultural heritages of Mudeung-san Mountain to broaden visitors' extent of understanding. Total 265 pieces of objects including stone diggers excavated from dolmens of Chunghyo-dong provides various sources to have understanding of culture and characteristics of the area of the Mudeung Mountain. In this exhibition, bronze artifacts found in Korea are re-displayed to increase visitor's understanding of changes of bronze culture in Korea. Exhibition of rubbed copies of Buddhist Heritages of Honam

Rubbing means a copying method which letters or patterns on stone monuments or sculptures are copied as they are on the paper by Chinese ink and copied paper itself. It is frequently used for archaeological or historical researches because it is good for reading old letters or patterns. Gwangju National Museum exhibits rubbed copies of Buddhist cultural heritages in Honam to show the characteristic of Buddhist culture and art. Total 43 pieces of objects are displayed from the 10th October 1991 to the 3rd November 1991.

Exhibition of Korean fan

Fans have been a must-have item for Korean people for a long time. It is unknown when it started being used in our lives, however, it is estimated that leaves and feathers were used as the origin of fans in the Prehistoric Age. We hope this special exhibition may give an opportunity to show and compare Korean and foreign fans. Total 267 pieces of objects are displayed from the 5th February 1991 to the 3rd March 1991.

Exhibition of the Bronze Age ~ focusing on Jeollanam-do

Gwangju National Museum exhibits approximately 500 pieces of objects in the Bronze Age such as 'Liaoning type bronze daggers', stone tools and earthenware excavated from Jeollanam-do to see the Bronze culture in west-southern area of Korea. In this exhibition, cultural heritages excavated from Song-am-dong of Gwangju, Jangcheon-ri of Yeong-am and Daegok-ri of Seungju are also displayed to see general characteristics of the Bronze culture of Jeollanam-do. The exhibition is from the 15th October 1990 to the 14th November 1990.

Exhibition of Goryeo Celadon

To commemorate the 1st anniversary of 1988 Seoul Olympic, an exhibition of Goryeo celadon which was organized by National Museum of Korea opens in Gwangju National Museum to introduce fabulous celadon culture of the Goryeo Dynasty to local residents. Through this special exhibition we hope to show our Goryeo celadon, provide local residents entertainment and develop our cultural identity.
