The museum collection and equivalent materials
Can be viewed by
- An individual working for a public agency, education institute, academic institute or research organization who has a clear purpose of conducting academic or cultural research or upholding public interests with the materials.
- An individual with a master’s degree or a higher degree who has a clear purpose of conducting academic research with the materials.
- An individual who has completed a master’s degree program (and has been nominated by the dean) and who has a clear purpose of conducting academic research and writing a thesis with the materials.
Viewing hours
- Designated separately
- Viewing may be limited in terms of frequency (five times per year), quantity (25 pieces per year) and duration (2 hours at a time) to ensure equal opportunities to view the materials.
Matters to be observed
- Those wishing to view the artifacts housed at the museum must submit the viewing authorization application form that is completely filled out without any missing information and the required documents, and be issued a museum collection viewing authorization certificate from the museum.
- Taking photographs for personal research purposes, without the use of lighting/flash, is permitted.
- In order to take photographs for publication purposes incl. inclusion in research papers, it is necessary to submit a duplication authorization application form and to obtain authorization and pay the fees in advance.
- Those viewing the materials in question must follow the instructions provided by the museum staff in charge to ensure safe handling of the artifacts.
- ※ Viewing and filming of some of the items in the collection may be restricted due to rentals to an external institution or any other projects and programs of the museum.
Compensation
In case an item is damaged by the viewer during the viewing process, it must be repaired/restored to its original form, in accordance with the matters specified by the Director of the Gwangju National Museum, and compensation must be provided according to the degree of damage incurred.
