Bead-Mould & Glass Beads
Mould earthenware from Gungok-ri, Haenam / Glass beads from Sinchang-dong
Cylindrical glass beads which came from China since the 2nd century were discovered in some remains. Glass is easy to be an accessory whereas jade is difficult to grind and make a hole because of its hardness. Therefore, it is estimated that blue jade loved in Bronze Age was exchanged to deep blue glass.
Also, a mould for glass beads was discovered and considered that it was used in the Proto-Three Kingdoms Age. The Glass Beads Frame is made of soft earth and has many small bead-shaped holes on the frame and there is smaller hole in each hole. To make a hole to thread beads, a wick is inserted in a smaller hole and liquid of glass is poured into the frame. By using this frame, it was possible to make a lot of beads once.
¡®Wiji Dongijeon¡¯ from ¡®Samgukji (Romance of Three Kingdoms)¡¯ says that ¡®Mahan People consider beads are valuable so they decorate their clothes by them and hang them on their necks and ears.¡¯ As the record, various beads were discovered in old mounds of Mahan area.
